El recolector is a book built from the city and its remains. Solid remains, garbage, objects that are no longer of any use. And human remains, the forgotten ones, those that do not disintegrate. Those who have suffered violence and lovelessness. Or violence within love. Remains that become stuck to walls and concrete. Remains that wander about, and that even the wind cannot carry away because they are too heavy. Those who walk and rise early pass over them. If they could crush them, they would. What is left of all this?
Lives vandalized by other lives. Lucila Grossman and Santiago Hafford observed one another and created this thousand-headed monster. And they did so with overwhelming force: out of chaos, they managed to create an organized language. An extension of their eyes. A photographer and a writer vibrating, screaming, and destroying everything they despise. If the city were not so sinister, perhaps these photographs would not exist. And if love did not cause suffering, these words would not exist.
